It's beginning to look a lot like baseball season.....Bulldog got his street parking visitor pass for the season last week- and could have put a bow on it! It is my lifeline to baseball bliss! And thanks to my new XM, I'll never miss the Mets postgame show with Howie!!! I think I'm going to designate next a weekend soon to transferring heavy winter sweaters for my baseball goodies!

Last week was such a bizarre week- witnessing a girl get beat up on my block, crash coursing in FAA stuff, and then the saddest day at work imagineable on Friday with the Colgan Air crash.....I'm hoping for a better week.....even if Yiannis is off in LA finishing some projects with the illustrious Mr. Cox.

Or is a master of reverse psychology with Luis Castillo....? I personally think it would be easier to bring patience to Jose at the plate than to get Mr. Slowsky F minus on base.....but maybe this is what a gangsta does- Luis thinks he can be a star and he deserves to be a star and not a liability....this is his chance (if it happens), but the leash should be shorter than a stack of pancakes! Then, if he continues to not perform- and by not- I mean improve upon just putting on his uniform.....he can be dealt with or released. I just can't imagine having a top of the lineup with no spark.....I mean- jose will run over whoever is at 2nd trying to steal.....

A little nervous about K-rod saying he is sure he'll talk to Putz....uhm, I hope he didn't mean that as in "I'm pretty to myself- and am not going to bond, interact with my teammates".

Happy to report that seeing more and more baseball stories on the Sportscenter run down about Baseball is making me excited!!!! Right now, I see Mets coming up after Manny Ramirez.....not hot stove or mlb or steroids- but real live baseball stories!

Also, thanks to everyone who sent me messages following the Colgan Air plane crash in Buffalo....working for RAA has been the most exciting job imagineable- and when one of members is involved in an accident, I got to see why it is that I (we) do what I do everyday. My thoughts are still with the victims- but I also hope to work even harder to improve the reputation of regional airlines!

I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!

All the reports of players showing up to spring training...little nifty tidbits floating all over cyberspace...arrrrghhhhhh April seems years away!

Oh- and P.S.  I'm still very proud of Roy Oswalt...a little fightin' Weir in him!  And so what if he angers people- at least he's REAL!

Spring Training is in the air!

Spring (training) is in the air!

A beautiful weekend this early in the year, always makes me nervous- like a blizzard (circa 2004) is just around the corner…Yet, in an attempt to be optimistic, my countdown to spring training is about to be up…after the long cold PHILLIES filled winter. 

I've been very vocal about my hatred of Roger Clemens.  It has nothing to do with steroids…I disliked the way he abandoned the Astros to "go win a world championship" with the Yankees…so, his steroids DIVA fits are really just really icing on my hatred cake.  I wish he would just go away- stop distracting folks with his whining….and then, BAM- Alex Rodriguez steals all the baseball headlines.  POOF- there goes my spring training of my dreams…and suddenly, visions of New York's other 3^rd baseman hogging all the time he can, play in my mind like Ken Rosenthal's announcement that AROD would be leaving the Yankees in the middle of the world series.  Over and Over and Over…It's very sad that a) this information was released at all b) that he tainted himself for what? One great season- when clearly he's one of the greatest to ever play the game c)  the entire baseball fandom will be subject to constant  coverage when what we all really wan to see is our team- the hopes and dreams of OUR team.  Of course, now, I'm happy with the thought that David Wright is NOW New York's best 3^rd baseman!  Part of me is nervous- though- if AROD can succumb to the lure of steroids-who else is on that list?  Also, it doesn't seem that steroids REALLY make people better athletes….think about it- 104 people tested positive- yet, only one of them IS REALLY GREAT.  Remember Guillermo Mota?  Beuhler? Beuhler? He was suspended for testing positive in 2007, and proceeded to just STINK UP THE JOINT afterwards…I know that Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, and Arod excetional players- but clearly, other players who are taking steroids don't come close to matching these guys- so many great players are playing clean and BETTEr- why even take them to begin with? 

I guess Manny is doing the Brett Favre thing….PULEASE- give me a break….I think he just sooo doesn't want to do the spring training thing b/c you know, he's so good….it's so sad- the economy is tanking…the people who pay for his exhorbitant salary- ARE BEING LAYED OFF LEFT AND RIGHT….anyone who is able to make a living as an athlete or entertainer should be thrilled to have a job b/c if things keep going south, there will be no one at the ball park to pay for their salaries…and then I guess we'll see where love of the game comes in to play, right?  Certainly, the number of $6 hotdogs will decrease even if attendance doesn't.  Here here to Roy Oswalt who offered to rework his contract to back end some of his hefty salary in order to make this year easier on the Astros ownership if they wanted to bring some help in to the rotation!  I don't blame players who believe they deserve millions…I blame their ego – some of them- for whining about only making __ million a year? REALLY?  Please take a look at the newspapers, the news, ANYTHING- you are not entitled to anything…

I mean- this guy is EXACTLY the demographic that Obama has to win over!  And, could he be more sincere!  I don't know about any of y'all…but after years of having every question vetted, and cherry picking topics, and being so closed off to the public- THIS IS SO REFRESHING!  I missed the crazies! Plus, this guy would so be my friend!

Also, in other news- Bulldog tried to surprise me with Mets-Redsox tickets on my birthday- but uhm....he was completely awol on my birthday- which sent me in to orbit- only to find out he was really ina virtual waiting room trying to buy tickets....for my first trip to Fenway! (hopefully)....

Also- My office cubicle has made the transition from JETS stuff back to all baseball oriented stuff....and I plan to blog every day during lunch about the days baseball news...as I train myself to BRING MY LUNCH TO WORK!

Also, p.s. I totally f*cking still love my job...long live the airline industry!
